The lack of competition resulted in another easy win for “Doraemon” and an almost identical weekend box office chart to last week.

It was the last weekend of the spring holidays and it seems like there were still a lot of families left that didn’t watch the latest adventure of “Doraemon“. In the previous report, its weekend result dropped by 17.7%, but this weekend it actually improved by 21.5% again, reaching a new cumulative revenue of 2,878,713,250 Yen (35 million USD).

Bokura ga Ita” secured the second slot as well, although the weekend revenue wasn’t that high with only 194,000,000 Yen (2.35 million USD). More than 1,000,000 people have seen this movie so far, resulting in a total revenue of 1,500,000,000 Yen (18.23 million USD).

Puss in Boots” also scored with the children this weekend and climbed up from the seventh to the fourth slot swapping places with “Ultraman Saga” which dropped from fourth to seventh.

In ninth place, “Journey 2: The Mysterious Island” opened with 63,991 viewers and a revenue of 83,637,100 Yen (1.01 million USD) over the two day weekend. “The Help” and “The Ides of March” surprisingly didn’t make it into the top 10.

Next week “The Artist“, “SPEC~Ten“, and the 3D version of “Titanic” might switch up the chart a bit more.
